Forgot all about Mocha/Mocha shape(haven’t had the opportunity to use it)—but Rolands right that would probably be the best solution.

I found this page of resources that might help you get started.Resources for mocha for After Effects (mocha-AE)

That is a light leaks(or film burn, film damage – if you decide to google)effect, any number of ways that film could get light on them before being developed would produce effects like that, now people just add them for fun.

Check out this thread, couple of different solutions to achieve this effect.

Still going to have to do a lot of tracking, but you might want to take a look at the Tracker2Mask script. There are a few tutorials to watch from the guy who made it, it’s not the most intutive script around, but it can be really handy.

    https://aescripts.com/tracker2mask/

You could make an adjustment layer-add blur, add a mask/with this script and it would apply the tracking to the mask. It’s still going to be a lot of work.

If you are rendering to QT for a broadcast quality playback your computer CPU isn’t fast enough to playback the video. Check out this link:

Are you sure about your pixel aspect ratio and the comp size. You can create 1440 x 1080 comps with a PAR of 1.33. That would probably mess things up.

    Just to check, I just created a 1920 x 1080 and made 12 solids 480 x 360 and they fit just fine.

  • The problem with your project is while CC Particle World has Z position and can take z position coordinates, it’s a 2D effect. Turning it to 3d doesn’t change that(neither is sphere,). The particles will move behind the sphere if the sphere is the top layer.

You can accomplish what you want using Trapcodes particular(you can download a free trial), either through the use of obstruction layers or near/far distance fade.

  • I see what you are trying to do, but there are some issues. First your particles are being emmitted offscreen. Add CC particle world to a blank solid and type in the positions your expressions are delivering(Layer 3) X=-.32, Y=-.38, Z=-.56—it’s offscreen.

Second your expression isn’t moving anything. The layer “Point” has a stationary position…yes it’s being rotated by the null, but when the expression reads it’s position it reads where it’s been placed, not where it’s moving by the null, so you won’t get any circles, just points.

Create a text layer by “cntl+alt+shift+t”, Alt+click the text layers source and copy and paste any of your expressions there. It will display the expression results and you can see your expressions are not moving.

If I weren’t so swamped today, I’d spend a bit more time trying to work on this, but now you might have a starting place to what needs to be corrected. Perhaps if you link your project in the expressions forum and explain what you are trying to do, they will be able to offer you some solutions.

One final note, you probably should save things in the Legacy 5.0 mode rather than 5.5, everybody hasn’t upgraded yet.
