Your text is being cut off, as you probably have figured out, because offset looks at what is seen on the screen at moves that. So your text that is outside of the screen can’t be offset as it’s not seen by the effect.

Probably the easiest solution would be to create your text in a precomp, offset it there and bring it into your final comp to work as a scroll. Click your text layer and “Cntl + shift + c” to create a precomp. Delete the original offset. Open your precomp and size the comp(cntl + K) to fit your text layer(if your text is 1200 pixels wide and 100 pixels high, make make your comp 1210 x 110). Now apply your offset effect and animate it.

I’m not following exactly what you want to do, but can you bring the psd file into AE as a composition(using the “Import as” pulldown), so you preserve your photoshop layers?

Make sure your anchor is in the center of your text. You can use the pan behind tool to accomplish that or this name your price script that will Repositions the Anchor Point for you without moving the text.

Now enable the layers 3d switch and just rotate the x axis 360 degrees(or more). It looks like they have motion blur turned on also which would make it so the text never completely disappears.

The should text look very thin and might seem to disappear when it’s at the 90 and 270 area, basically when it’s laying flat.

Most likely your renders are choppy, it’s the playback of your computer. You can check this in quicktime by using the arrow keys to see if every frame has been rendered. Generally speaking most computers can’t playback most quicktimes codecs or uncompressed .avi’s files. Just too high of a bit rate for the cpu’s. If you need to see it compress to a file like Windows Media(pc) or Quicktime H.264.

It looks like they did a simple animation in C4D or a similiar application – though it could be done with Mettle ShapeShifter, Zaxwerks or even the shatter effect in AE to create the shapes.

The tricky part is the tracking. Try some google searches for Mocha Planar tracking. I think there are some AdobeTV too(Mocha comes bundled with AE) That’s how they get the camera move and objects to match up together. Depending on the shot though you could use AE’s on board tracker and get a good result.
