The easy answer would be Premiere as you have the ability to dynamically link between the two applications.

Adobe Dynamic Link.The second consideration, what software are you most comfortable. Me, I’m an Avid editor, so I would make it work with Avid.

The first place I would recommend would be After Effects basics tutorials by Andrew Devis
This is a bit dated but it probably still covers 75% of the effects: The-After-Effects-Illusionist – you can get a used copy for 15.00 bucks.They Meyer’s books(find the newest editions) are also invaluable, got to have books.

Pond5 has some, though I’ve never looked at any of them. I use them for the stock footage which is generally pretty reasonable.

I like Avid DNxHD it’s not the smallest codec, but really high quality and there are a bunch of different bit rates to try if you want to change the final size. One thing, you have to go into the codec settings and choose “compressed/uncompressed” alpha along with changing the color to RGB + Alpha to create an alpha channel.
I just did a test between a 17 second
QT animation 1080i/29.97 = 2.9 GB, 492 MB for

Effects and animation presets overview
With animation presets, you can save and reuse specific configurations of layer properties and animations, including keyframes, effects, and expressions. For example, if you created an explosion using several effects with complex property settings, keyframes, and expressions, you can save all of those settings as a single animation preset. You can then apply that animation preset to any other layer.
Many animation presets don’t contain animation; rather, they contain combinations of effects, transform properties, and so on. A behavior animation preset uses expressions instead of keyframes to animate layer properties.

Try turning off multi-processing, RAM preview, then clear your cache, turn MP back on and RAM preview. I’ve had some strangeness with the MP and sometimes previewing with it turned off fixes it.

Do you mean an animation preset, like a few effects stacked with keyframes? IE…an animated glow and fast blur over a few seconds?
