Yes, I’m running Snow Leopard 10.6.2 and it all seems happy. Sony needs to get their act together and update their web sites.

OK, I figured it out. I needed SxS Device Driver v1045050 and XDCAM_EX_Log_and_Transfer_Plugin_1_0_0
Sony really needs to streamline their websites, I got one file form the Canada site and one from Sony Europe. Each site offers different files, different information and different hoops to jump through to get them.

I’m having trouble with this too. I’ve installed the drivers for SxS cards and I’ve installed XDCAM transfer 2.5.1. I can see the card mounted on my laptop, but Log and Transfer isn’t recognizing the media. I’m running FCP 7.0.1 on a Macbook Pro running 10.6.2

Do you mean for handling French accents? Just copy and paste from your translated document to whichever text generator you’re using.
Or choose edit > special characters to access the accent marks

Ahh, a trick question! Natively you can’t edit AVCHD in FCP. You use log and transfer in FCP to convert AVCHD to Prores files. I edit Prores on my Imac off a striped firewire 800 drive without any problems.
You can edit HDV natively, but being long gop Mpeg2 files, it makes FCP run a little clunky, you’ll always have “conforming Mpeg” pop up while you’re rendering. You can choose to capture HDV as Prores as well.
Sony says that AVCHD at 9mbits is roughly equivalent to HDVs 25mbits. So if you’re shooting at any data rate above that (My panny 150 shoots at up to 24mbits), you’ll be getting better images than HDV.
If I was choosing a format, I’d stay away from tape based HDV, I think it’s nearing the end of it’s life.

I agree with Shane, swearing isn’t something I’d ever expect to see in someone’s reel. But when you repeat as much as it is in the reel, it just becomes funnier and funnier.

From reading AJA’s release notes for their latest driver, the files need to be .scc. They’re just text files, but mostly look to be hexadecimal.
