Are you dead set about using MacBook Pro?
Personally, I would not recommend the MacBook Pro. The processor Skylake is already one year behind. Quite frankly, the specs are highly disappointing all around.

I bought it and it working on a couple of 4k projects on it now. This laptop is very fast and chugging along nicely. Using Thunderbolt 3 and SSD external raid 0 is more than enough speed.
The new Mac Book Pro just announced today. Top of the line will cost you close to $5k with 16gb of RAM.
That’s almost double the cost of my HP. They are going downhill fast. -

That’s my concern. We need easy access to the cable ports. Since the ports are on the side of the body, the only way to mount these things is by standing them up. If they’re laying down and once you start stacking, you’ll have no access to the computers that are in the center of the rack.

My guess is a shelving system with the shelves being made of metal grate so that the computers can suck air from the bottom.
Since they are a smaller I’m assuming you can fit a lot more computers into a smaller space.
I don’t think laying them down is a good idea since the power button and cord outlets are on the side.

Doesn’t the tubular design allow the airflow to touch more hardware, thus allowing for more efficient cooling. Seems simple to me.

You are correct. The tubular design allows for more efficient cooling allowing computers to be faster and run hotter.
