I would post this in the Blackmagic forum. It seems related to a known issue with 8bit captures done with Premiere Pro 2 and a Blackmagic card. These files will also crash AE7. The only workaround is a different codec. I am currently capturing everything in 10bit.

One thing that sometimes fixes firewire issues is disabling it in the network devices control panel. Since firewire can be used to network computers it will show up there. Disabling it there will not disable it in other respects.

2:40 for 5 pictures is just dumb. Use some creative license and fade the song into the next segment. The next section you can collage the pictures..show more then one at a time and only go full screen for the really good pics. This will draw more attention to them and emphasise their good points.

The Decklink card works like the canopus in that it will render anything not in its preferred codec and format. With a fast system I haven’t found this to be an issue. Then again, I spend more time in After Effects the PPro so I am use to waiting for preview renders.
I have the DL Extreme since we mostly work from BetaSP. Overall I think the card works great. Tech support is very responsive to any problems and the drivers are updated often.

Not sure if this is the problem but in the project manager, right click the file-choose interpret footage and check the box “ignore alpha”

I’ve gotten some very nice filmic looks with a combination of color finesse and the remove grain filter.
Color finesse has more then enough control. It will even allow you to load in a reference picture to split screen with your footage to compare with as you tweak your color.

what are you doing when it happens?

  • This is a known issue that they are working on. The workaround at the moment is to capture in 10bit as it is the 8bit codec that crashes AE7.
