I did notice that with the Prores exported version of the FCP sequence that Media 100 wants to import the entire quicktime file, not just the clips. So that is why it is rendering. (I had cut the timeline to just a few clips for the test.)

I have used Inqscribe for a small project. Because the program was designed for transciption, the subtitle side of the program is not as polished as it might be. However, I was very pleased with the result.

    Good luck,

  • Max,

You are welcome. I assume you are aware that the MDD machines are loud. I now notice it a lot more because it is not on all the time. 😉

    Good luck,

    John

  • I have used that system – MDD 1.25 dual with Media 100 7.5 and 9.2.2 for years and it has been a wonderfully stable workhorse. I am not using it so much because more and more of my work is in HD. Good luck.

    Wick,

    I too appreciate your honesty.

And it would certainly help me if you all decide to go in that direction. (And it would influence a purchase as well.)

    Thanks,

    John

    Exactly.

I wrote, “I am looking into either the 1000 LEDs or some fluorescents. As my experience is with tungsten lights, I am worried that these lights will make things too flat.”

The “these lights” was supposed to be a reference to the LED and fluorescent lights, not to the tungsten and it make sense to read it otherwise. Oooops. My goof.

    Rick,

Thank you so much for your help.

I am afraid I did not give you enough info in that the production is an alcove in a small church. The stage will actually be a riser (the 8′ x 6′ or even 8″ x8′) and the the alcove is 13 feet long and 21 feet wide. And so I have more room to place the lights. Would you still go with a cross-key from 3/4 back?

    Thanks again,

    John

Thank you, Bob, for your response, your question and your understandable skepticism. Obviously I did not give you enough info.

We already have the audio equipment with the cabling, the mics, and the mixer. We also have an intercom system. Because of the nature of our show – the cameras don’t need to move – it is very stationery – I am thinking to go cheap with the tripods and to use the lcds on the cameras for viewing.

I have thought about the tricaster and am also looking into the panasonic av-hs300g switcher. I like the tricaster, but I am thinking that the panasonic would be more bullet proof and i don’t know if that is true. I would also need some sort of CG for the panasonic.

That is why for me the three big questions are cameras, switcher and the HD codec.

    Have i answered your question?

Yes, I have. I don’t even have to start digitizing and it will stop playing the video in about 10 seconds.

By the way i sent you an email on Friday.

    thanks,

    John
