When I import the project I need to be able to open it to the layers, keyframes, effects. So I can move the keyframes change effects. When I import the project it colapses so it is just like a pre-comp effect. There are no layers.

And try throwing in a displacement map for good measure

This is pretty basic but looks good. I used cc light burst 2.5 effect.
My text “Star Base” I made a new text layer and just typed “l”. I applied the effect to this layer. Background black. I put the center at the vanishing point where the text was moving to. And i put the “l” at the very end of the text line and parented “l” to the text “STAR BASE” After you parent it you have to move it into correct position again, no key frames necessary.
So after the text makes it’s turn toward the distant background 2 frames after it starts shooting towards the distant reaches of space the “l” layer becomes visible, just the streak effect not the letter “l”, a streak the same pixels height as my “STAR BASE” and it looks like a rocket that just turned on the after burners. -
View pro show demos at the web site. You will be able to make a dvd for showing on a projection tv, regular tv, the quality is very good it just depends on the projector.

I’m a past wedding photographer. I used to do shows with 8 slide projectors controled by Arion. I can’t say with any higher regard the answer to what you are looking for is Pro Show Gold 2.5 by Photodex. I have used it extensively for exactly what you want to do. You can try it for free.

Hi,
You may want to study pre-composing then duplicate (Ctrl + D) and stagger the comps. This should loop. Search AF help and this might be all the info you need. I’m new to this also but this might get you started. -
Most all of my programs are demos with cross x. I been trying to learn motions graphics for about 2 weeks now. It’s very difficult. The project I am trying to recreate was originally done with Pro Show Gold 2.5. and looks great. I just wanted a little more animation and effects. This may be a little more learning curve than I can handle. Thanks for your help Steve.

Kathlyn, I do appreciate your help.
“If you use masks carefully.” Carefully is the key word. I thought he used masks carefully and I wanted to see his skillful usage of the masks. Where as “If you use masks” would imply a different meaning.
Once again thanks for your attention.
I study after effects every waking hour. Unless I eat or exercise. I am creating an art oriented DVD for sale in stores and galleries.
(Christmas is coming soon= retail).I am currently working on tasteful ways to animate the content of 11 different still photographs. Pre-comp will be very handy in anim segmenting. Displacement map will be one of the most used effects along with TC stroke & shine. (David Zandnerg). I have started sluthing the tutorial sections, at your suggestion. Good move.
One question- I think the clipping off of glow radius on a photoshop title done on a 320×240 canvas then imported into AE comp 720×540 sq pix is a non issue in 6.5 pro. I can’t seem to get the glow to clip no matter how large I make it around the type. I have seen pre-comp as a solution to clipping in Barry Mc’s tutorial also.
The cow is cool and I’m glad to have your dedicated efforts.
Thanks,

Kathlyn thanks for your help. Pre- comp is the stage I’m at with AF. Mainly, creating a comp layer as an engine for displacement maps. Thanks for your additional links.
It would be good if you took a look at the paragraph that recommends the project file.
Thanks again.
