I believe if you want to use a monitor to judge quality, safe area, color ect, one should use a broadcast monitor. They are not cheap.

I just finished a lengthy DVD project all the way from After Effects, Premier 1.5, and Encore. As inexpensive as DVD’s are these days I made all my technical judgements on a good Sony XBR television using DVD’s that I would burn through out the whole creation process. This is probably one of the best ways to really see what you will get as a final product.

A big pile of DVD’s are a whole lot cheaper than the over priced Canopus.
Like I once said if a screwdriver was labled as a video screwdriver it would be 15 times as expensive as the regular screwdriver that is it’s twin.

I am currently experimenting with https://www.flash-on-tv.com/video-to-flash.html I tried a good quality mpeg with this demo version and it looks very nice. (Wondershare Video to Flash encoder). Seemed to simple to be good but I can’t say the results are. You can demo for 30 days with watermark and file sizes under 50 megs.

I just started using Encore and it was hard but it sure can do the job. Try going to VTC.com for a good tutorial on encore or go to Ebay to find a $10 instructional CD.
Encore does have some horsepower, but an upgrade wpould be nice.

Once you return to the last menu you can put in a button called resume that will take you back to the spot in the movie; the spot you were at when you left to go to menus.

For more information type keyword resume in encore help. I have just started using encore and it took me about 3 hours to solve this problem.

Also, make your return to movie button number 1. So it is highlighted.

Here’s what I only speculate as to what is the cause- I am rendering the motion background in after effects at DV 720×480 and going to premier to edit it then exporting the movie to encore.

I think I will try the ae render at 720×486 and let the encore encoder take it to correct size 720×480. This is a guess.

I have made menus.

My first time with encore and that is what I came up with. One nice things about menus- added capabilities for adding and changing graphics and routing buttons.

Disk makers will be using a glass master for pressing the DVD’s. They do not need a DLT to do this. I will burn a DVD for them as a master. Does this make a difference to your answer?

This is just a guess– use a second mask to keep the inside edge sharp.
