I am just learning After effects but it seems that shooting video with acurate lighting to show all detail through the turning of the pages may well be a good start, as far as the book and page realism goes. Watch your shadows. You need some direction of light on the book to have it appear 3 dimensional. Then let the power of after effects create your pape content so it is ledgable through out the turn of the page. You may need to rotoscope during each frame.

Using camera and light will help page content to appear realistic as to the video of the books page turning shadows. Further intriging animation could be done by parenting page content with a null object. I have only been studying AE about 6 days so I hope one of the resident guru’s will be inspired to help you from here. Since I am so inexperienced it will be interesting to see exactly how far off base I am with this solution. Anyway, my suggestions will probably be quite time consuming but it could also be the most realistic way to accomplish your task.

Hi Dwaynne,

My video card is a ATI Radeon 9800 pro. It has a s-video (SVHS) output jack. Along with the card came an adapter that plugs into the svhs jack.
The other end of this jack is an rca female plugin; So you can take an RCA patch cord and plug one end right into adapter and the other end into the video rca in jack on most TV sets.

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

You may be happy to know that there is not only DVD 5 but DVD 9 that holds ,I think, 8 gigs of info, don’t quote me here but DVD 9 may be the answer you are looking for.

Hey Terry,

Ati Radeon 9800 pro card has s-vhs out. You could get a component adapter or just use the S-video to composite adapter that comes with it. Might as well get down and dirty with S-VHS to composite RCA plug/cable to a good ol’ TV to see what the consumer will see. Plus if your a gamer you’ll love the card. There are probably many video cards out there with S-vhs out.

Hey Andrew,

I can recommend just the item. Go to ebay and get the “how to gurus” 6 cd set. It’s very cheap and starts from the most basic level of After E.. On Ebay search just type Adobe after effects and start bidding. You should be able to pick this up for around $45. I have no connections to ebay or this product. Tutorial CD’s or DVD’s are the fastest way from point A to point B.
