    Hey Guys,

I am Joey – I am on the BETA Test team for Red Giant Software 🙂

I have been told personally by the Red Giant Software Managing Software Engineer that the colored scattered pixels are being wiped out forever in 2009. It is on the RGS “to do” list to change all demo plug-ins to “big red X” watermark. He said it is not high on their list of priorities, but it’s on there.

    Peace

Awesome, Adam…thank you for posting that. One more thing…how is the actual wipe animated keeping both edges soft throughout?

    Thank you for your help.

Thanks for replying Adam. Can you expand on that please?? Modeling is not a problem for me but shaders are not my strong suit.

    Thank you so much

    Ken,

That’s a ridiculous statement. The LHe handles Uncompressed HD via a PCIe slot where as the I/O HD uses ProRes & is limited by the firewire connection.

Please check your facts before posting such rubbish.

  • Perfect, Aharon…thanx. That takes care of Adobe software.

When you said you had to call in…was that a “paid Tech Support” call or general Customer Service? Is there a general phone# you can post to call for this kind of help or is it a Pay-Per-Event call?

Thanks for you time…totally appreciate it!!!

    SOLUTION!!!

    Update to OS 10.4.10.

All plug-ins came back online right after that.

    C-ya 🙂

i have the same osx (10.4.9) and qt (7.1.6) on a macpro and i have no issues with the text effects (basic or timecode) so i don’t think the issue is with qt or the os itself.

I am sorry…but what would Quicktime have to do with the way After Effects displays text in the Comp Window? Nope…that’s not it. Tried it – still nothing.

You’re on a MacPro which is not the same. My issue is with 2 different PPC’s in 2 different locations (a Quad & a Dual 2.5). Your OS is not the same…it’s for the Intel machine.

    Thanx anyway.

    Hey Man,

I am having the same issue. I had no problems before – then upgraded to OS 10.4.9. / QT 7.1.6. last week and all my text plug-ins except for Path Text (which still incredibly works) are blank. The Timecode plug-in just shows the black window with nothing in it (and YES…the text is a different color than the window because it’s white over a black background by default – don’tcha love that one?).

I have tried everything everyone has mentioned here with no effect. I won’t be going back to an old OS or QT so I am stuck without the text plug-ins for now (hopefully CS3 will be good to me).

Will be monitoring this thread. C-ya 🙂

  • Hey Michael,

All due respect, I know about the duck forum…which is why I posted in here and didn’t expect to get a pitch.

AD is not a practical solution to my problem at all. This was a friendly request for help to export an EDL (I have never done it before) for a personal project (my Demo) that has been “ongoing” (updated every month) for years (started on Express DV 3 – upgraded all the way currently to Express Pro 5.6.4). I have finally got to the point where I no longer use Avid so I want it and the one remaining Avid project archived & off my system completely (now on a Quad / FCP 5.1.2 / Kona LHe / KL-Box). The Avid codecs are reaking havoc with incompatibilities with FCP 5.1.2. & my Kona 3.3. drivers – causing apps to crash left & right. I pulled the Avid codecs out – all problems went away.

This experimentation / time spent with an EDL cost me nothing – nada – niente. There is no deadline and I didn’t want to spend any $$$ just to get my timeline into FCP when an EDL is MORE than sufficient (and Avid Editors KNOW this). If I was earning my $75 per hr rate for this project, I would have gotten Automatic Duck and billed the client for it…period.

What I am not fond of is the “kick him when he’s down” posts of developers that say “You see… this poor shnook coulda saved an entire day’s pay with OUR PRODUCT” and links to my post begging for help – totally ignoring the request within. I hate being used as the “poor shnook” in a pitch – especially without my consent 😉 …also makes me not want to buy the software if I DO need it.

Addressing your “why not stay on one system” comment, sometimes an Editor walks into a job that has been cut on an Avid and the client for some unknown reason wants to finish it on his new Quad in his basement – which has FCP. The client pays…he gets what he wants. Some of us in small markets don’t get the luxury or staying on one system all the way through a project. It is a headache to be SURE… but the client is king and his money’s green.

So you see…all I needed was what Grinner gave me…a few details and not to spend $500 to get my Demo to FCP.

    Thank you Grinner…you are a gentleman & a scholar.
