Ahh okay. I am in fact playing off my system disk. I guess that’s the problem! This never happened with FCP7 though. I suppose it’s time to invest in a RAID setup. I’ve been putting it off for far too long.

I see the problem! You are supposed to parent the TEXT to the NULL, not null to text. When you parent the text to the null, the Text becomes a “child” of the null meaning it follows it as a kid would follow his mother. I made that mistake too when I started with AE.

    Hey!
I am running CS3 just fine on my 7 year old PowerMac G4. Its runs somewhat slow, but pretty well for such a computer. But yes, there will be no multicore functions though….

August 8, 2007 at 9:55 pm in reply to: Greenscreen question for pro

    Hey There,

When shooting greenscreen footage where your camera moves, you should ALWAYS have markers on your greenscreen so that when your in AE, you can easily track the shot and apply it to the background on which you are going to composite to. But in this case which you don’t have markers, set a Scale keyframe EXACTLY when the footage begins to zoom in and scale the background to match the footage as if it was really tracked. I suggest using an exponential scale for more realism by right clicking on the background layer and choose “Keyframe assistant” and then “exponential scale” but that is only available in the Pro versions of AE.

    Well hoped this helped,

Yea back when I had AE 6, I got this alot and it has to do with your version of Quicktime not being compatible with AE. I have no idea why, but I searched google for an answer but to no avail. I never fixed the problem then once I got 6.5, it didn’t matter anymore. So I can’t really help you here sorry.

This has been asked so many times in the AE fourm and it can’t really be done unless you have 3D Invigorator. However, if you have Poser or DAZ Studio, I just ran across this sweet bullet time prop here
    https://www.most-digital-creations.com/Btime.zip
It has 3 Different bullets and it even has a TRAIL that goes with it. It works really well and if you don’t have Poser, get a free trial and use that link I gave you. Animate a few seconds of the bullet rotating, or whatever you want, and render with an alpha channel. Also if you arent comfortable with Poser, just export the bullet props from Poser as a 3DS and use 3D Invigorator to import into AE.

    Hope this helped,

Thanks so much, Dave And Aharon! I appreciate both methods!

  • Hello there!

As a matter of fact the other day I was actually doing this to blend a CG object into a live action shot. All you need to do is Effect>Noise and Grain>Add grain. Then its just a matter of playing with the size, softness, and anamation until it matches your footage. Im sorry I can’t tell you much more then that because it all depends on your footage.

    Hope this helped,

Well even if you came up with somthing that looked cool, it wouldnt look convincing at all because in real life you woundn’t see the bullet unless you were using a 1000 FPS high speed cam. If you want to achieve this effect, just convince your audiance by using sound effects panning from one audio chanel to the next. They do this in the Matrix but that is in slow-motion.

Well the problem with this question is that it would be WAY co complicated to explain on this fourm, and even more, impossible to do with After Effects. These kind of things are either done with 3D packages and a LOT of experience with them.
