I am looking for a specific car commercial that featured a japanese car (either infinty, honda etc.etc. ???). I’ve seen it once but i can’t remember the studio or carmaker that produced it.

It starts out in space with an orbitting satellite, then crash zooms through the clouds layer, and ends up with an aerial view of the car driving down a long-stretch desert road….

The zoom-into-earth was very well done and one of the best once i’ve seen.

I’d appreciate any help on this 🙂

That sort of thing is called a “cosmic zoom” or “powers of ten” effect. If you search the COW for either, you should find something.

thank you both for your response !!!

Perhaps, I wasn’t clear – I am not looking for a “making of” but for this very car commercial.

Yep – I know there are dozens that employ this effect (hummer etc.etc.) but this one stands out.

Billions of car commercials to choose from. Pick a brand and we’ll have a better chance of finding out if they even have a BTS. Better yet, you could find the house that edited the commercial and ask the editor himself. SCION had a similar commercial, but it’s not what you’re looking for. It might have been done in 3dsmax… Some of the cloud cover needed to sell the atmosphere effects just never look right with AE’s 2d shapes suspended in 3d space style of 3d. Emulating the effect might end up being your best option.

Well the problem with this question is that it would be WAY co complicated to explain on this fourm, and even more, impossible to do with After Effects. These kind of things are either done with 3D packages and a LOT of experience with them.
