  • Motion tracking with a null – doesn’t parent? Why?

I was motion tracking a scene. I applied the motion tracking information to the null, but then when I tried to parent it to a layer of text, it doesn’t take. The text stays put while the null moves – did I miss something?

I see the problem! You are supposed to parent the TEXT to the NULL, not null to text. When you parent the text to the null, the Text becomes a “child” of the null meaning it follows it as a kid would follow his mother. I made that mistake too when I started with AE.

    Good Luck
