This is not an easy answer because there is an abundance of DVD players on the market not to mention older ones which you might well be using. Each one of those can have their parts made from any one the varied vendors and so on.
The first thing I would do is to burn the discs at a lower setting to help avoid errors. Some DVD players are more tolerant of disc errors some are not. My kids DVD player will play anything it seems while those same discs will not play in my home system and in fact could not play in the screening room I booked on their system.All that means is that there was an incompatibility that the player could not handle. A DVD has more than just your video on it. It tells the DVD player a lot more than just that. This is often the cause of some of these errors. For ex: in a batch of 100 discs I will usually see a few that burn just fine and then will not play or have problems. All burned at the same speed, on the same system and checked in three different systems. The seeking problem could be anything, try the easy things first.

I see the waveforms and the spikes. Is what I am looking at the rendered clip brought back into Vegas? If that is the case go back to your timeline and try just rendering a short portion that overlaps the trouble spot and see what the results are. Of course you will have to render to another audio format. Also is you render the whole thing in another format does it do the same thing? I’ve never come across this issue and I use many tracks as well. for it to hiccup at this spot tells me that Vegas does not like something at this point and is throwing the rendering process a curve. Of course rendering the audio is not CPU intensive ad is video for I doubt it is a resource issue. Anyway let me know what you find.

I presume you are talking about the audio stream for your video. Are you giving both the video clip and the audio the same name so that DVDA will find both? Is your video dropping out also then? Not sure what you mean by some sound effects are remaining. How many tracks of audio are you rendering to create your audio track for DVDA? It sounds like you have the effects on a different track. A little more details would be a great help.

John is right about what else it could be. I have had this happen before as I use multiple external drives on many systems. When you save a project in one system with and external that is recognized as D the next may call it E depending on how many drives your system has. Of course if this is not your case then indeed there is something really wrong here. Otherwise your drive letters should not change. Most assuredly do as John suggested and check to see if you have been infected.
Also are you able to play any of those files outside of Vegas using another player such as VLC? The only audio does suggest a codec missing.

Go back and open your project and look for all of your lost media from withing Vegas. If you were using and external drive this can happen and is not a big issue. It will say that it cannot find the file and will show you where the files would have resided. Just navigate to those files and select it. Do the same for all of them. Only if you moved or deleted the files will you not be able to recover them. As far as some of them working and not others can you please give some additional info?

I use video for my backgrounds and brought it in using the proper settings, added a couple of buttons and voila …recompressed it.

Here is what I do for what you are asking. I create all of my buttons, text etc outside of DVDA and then bring them in after they are properly rendered. I prefer to have them all exactly as I need then to appear and behave in my NLE. Then on import to DVDA I select a button, properties, text only and then I erase the text. So in essence I have created a hotspot. All it have to do it drag and size the box to where it coincides with my imported video text. This avoids the recompression when you add buttons and gives you much greater leeway to creating a professional looking DVD. Hope this is clear if not I’ll be glad to go into it more it depth.
