Hi Don,
Ok, I have downloaded the XDCAM Browser software and got the interface open. Now I have dragged the MP4 file into the preview window so I can see the clip that I need to use.
All I want to do now is export the clip and turn it into a .MOV file so that it can be used in FCP7.
PLEASE NOTE though that I do not have Final Cut on this machine as I am using my girlfriends Macbook. My Macbook is the other side of the country. All I really need is this file as a raw .MOV
Any advise would be very welcome please please!!! Thanks

Ok, I think I have found a link for XDCAM Browser Software. Am downloading now so will let you know how it goes…

Thanks for your quick responses guys,
The thing is I do not have the actual SxS card itself or the camera. All I have is this folder of the above mentioned files. Will the transfer software still work with just these files?
Also I have been to the Sony website and selected the software. It then takes me to another page which does not seem to have a ‘download’ option.
Any further ideas or perhaps a direct workable link?
Thanks again

Of course I have already been paid for filming the project and I know this isn’t really my problem now, but he may well have some more work coming my way so just trying to keep him sweet!

Thanks for checking craig.
Is there any way around this then? An alternative player perhaps?

the last one has the settings-
frame rate 25 fps
key frames every 25
data res 4200 kb/sAudio rate 44.1 AAC
Frame controls ON
output field- progressive
deinterlace- betterFrame size 1280×720.
But is you could also have a look at this one –

Thanks a lot Craig,
..and suddenly this project seems significantly easier- these WD boxes are just what I need.
And one last thing. To get the same picture from the player onto multiple TV screens, I would need a need an HDMI distribution amp splitter, right? Any that you would recommend?

Thanks Craig.
I think me needs to get hold of one of those WD players. Is this what you mean?

If so, looks like a bargain and very versatile too..

hello again,
I have one further problem now- when I play the DVD on my TV (panasonic viera) the image is slightly too big for the screen and I am losing some of the picture- something to do with the aspect ratio I guess. In the general tab of the preferences I have set the SD DVD menus.. to 16:9 Pan-scan & letterbox. Maybe I need to change this? or perhaps it something I need to amend back in FCP?
I could keep experimenting but don’t want to keep burning and wasting too many blank DVD’s!
Any suggestions please
