I tried importing QT into PPro, and there is a compression hit as well as a gamma shift (seen in After Effects difference mode). But it would be interesting to see if QT Pro could import the DV AVI and not require recompression.

You could do a Save As out of QT Pro and save an alias. I’d try it but I don’t have nor do I want keep upgrading QT Pro.

I couldn’t figure out how debugmode.com figures in but it seems that Adobe has distanced them selves from Apple QT and any license fees that they might have incurred.

So what they give you is the ability to copy unrendered sections of the timeline into a new file so you limit recompression. Just uncheck Recompress Always in Video Preferences.

    Has anyone tried this?

    Thanks for the reply.

Yeah, I might need books on when to make cuts — any suggestions on editing talking heads?

We definately disagree. Perhaps I tend to cut on action and angle, while the client favors long dissolves only during pauses. The last job was somewhat different with a different client, and worse since the client was extemely uninformed.

Which thread? This is a question on clients reviews. I’d like to avoid the quitting part, but my question is on reviews — if anyone has advice.

You could also use the demo of Premiere Elements.

I like to add that you can use Photoshop Elements for slideshows (going to wmv in this case), like you would iPhoto on the Mac.

Anchor Point animation is better to animate in order to avoid interpolation irregularities near edges. See https://www.cybmotion.com/dvmg/mg15/mg15.html for explanations.

  • Final Cut can do this (w/drop zone thingie in comp window), but it’s not a feature per se.

Of course it doesn’t take much time in Premiere with shortcuts.

If you render a TL and nest it into another you’ll have to render again, for some reason. I’m not fond of this!

One workaround is to render out the finshed TLs w/o recompression and throw those movies into a TL to export out.
