It’s difficult for me to understand what the problem could be. Could you post the PSD file someplace where I could download it?
Also, are you using the same system for AE, Photoshop, and Encore? If not, does the font exist on all systems?

That said, try creating a new menu color set in Encore, try some color and opacity settings, and see if you can get the desired effect in Encore.

You workflow is not the correct one. Don’t make your menu in AE.
Encore menus are PSD files, made in Photoshop. You can do limited editing in Encore, but After Effects is not the tool for menu creation – Photoshop is.

In Encore, subpicture layers are defined as having a (=1), (=2), or (=3) prefix in their layer name, and being inside the button layer set, which has a (+) prefix in its layer name.
Does your button have text layers with the appropriate prefix so Encore can make them into subpicture layers?

In DVD-Video, button subpictures do not support gradients, drop shadow, or any other graduated opacity effects. Instead, they are a solid block of color, although you can set the opacity of this block.

Encore doesn’t have a feature that allows you to draw hotspots on a menu.
Instead, you work with a menu file, which is a PSD (Photoshop document file). Any drawing would be done in Photoshop. Review Encore’s documentation for layer naming prefixes, and what they translate into when you import the PSD as a menu.

That’s it…the button in the menu file should be only the button folder and a subpicture layer.

Not with Encore CS3 alone, no. Some authors have done it…search this forum.
Note that not all Blu-ray players support BDMV written to DVD.

Enter the timecode where you want the button to appear in Loop Point property in Menu properties.
The ideal scenario is to put all your graphical elements together in AE, then export an AVI for use as the menu background. Then in Encore, have button folders that contain only highlight layers.

Jacket pictures are not supported on all DVD players. My Sony supports it, but my Pioneer does not – go figure.
However, Encore does support it, if you add the jacket pictures and folder to the ROM content. Look online for a tutorial on how to add jacket pictures to a VIDEO_TS folder – you can adapt this for use in your Encore project (I’ve done it once before, but no links handy – sorry).
