Do as Michael says. Get out of AMA as soon as you can. AMA is NOT for longform editing. I would not recoomend it for anything that you will be working on for more than one day. Not because it sucks, but because it’s simply not as rock solid as traditional Avid media is. And you will want rock solid if you’re cutting a feature.

Never heard of a virtual dongle via iLok. AFAIK there is dongle activation and there is software activation (license code entered through Avid License Tool). The latter uses the NIC of your computer, so if that is not seen (or has changed), it will not recognize the software activation.

FYI:

Avid today stated that they plan to support 10.8 and the Gatekeeper feature, and that they are working on code-signed versions for 10.8.

They also advise anyone wanting to test out current versions with 10.8 to bypass Gatekeeper:

1. Hold down the Control key
2. Click on the installer package of the installer you wish to open. A menu will appear near the cursor
3. Select “Open” from the menu that appears. A new dialog box will appear
4. Select “Open anyway” from the dialog box. This will allow you to proceed with installation regardless of Gatekeeper settings.

You can also choose Gatekeeper settings in the System Preferences window to suppress these warning messages, but you should be aware that lowering the security level such that unsigned applications can be installed without signature checking increases the risk of inadvertently installing and running software that may harm the system or compromise the safety of your data.

Link to AMA volume (under the File Menu), that should bring in the clips. Then, consolidate or transcode them so they become Avid MediaFiles.

Get a SynCheck II device, and measure the delay. It’s not so much the latency of the screen, but the delay in the processing of an incoming video signal. SynCheck will tell you how many ms of delay is happening. I would defintely apply an audio delay in your monitoring. In the past, I have use the Behringer Sharks DP110’s for that, and also a Felston DD540 (digital). Now I’m using a Denon AV7100 pre-amp that has a delay setting built in.

The picture is not being converted or transcoded, color levels will be maintained. So whatever there was in the source file, you will have inside MC/SY. So any luma values from 235-255 will be there, and you can use the CC mode to bring them down or stretch them out.

If you want to automate levels, you should not change Clip Levels but Auto Gain.

I don’t know of a matrix, but the release notes for every version of MC will list the supported versions of Unity/ISIS.
