I’ve gotta say Joel, I’m very impressed. Nice job. Also, the link to the AEP file didn’t work for me.

Thanks Jon. Yeah, I just copied the folder right from the disc and into the AE plugin folder, which is what the instructions said. I didn’t move anything. We tried it on a different computer (same G5 setup) and it did the same thing.

Thanks Stefan. That might’ve been it. I unchecked the Use Compression box and checked the PDF Compatible box, which is usually checked, and that did it. All is well now. I’ve been using these programs for a while now and haven’t run into that issue yet. Good thing to know for the future.

You gotta copy them in the right order…I think from top down…to maintain the correct order when you paste them.

CC Particle World can produce some good smoke. Use the Faded Sphere or Darken and Faded Sphere setting with gray and white as the colors and crank the birth and death sizes up. Lots of control too with camera and position settings. I use it a lot. Works pretty well.

I love these short, quick workflow-related tips. They’re always things that a lot of people already know but once in a while I’ll watch one and think, “Wow! I didn’t realize you could do that!” To me, they’re just as valuable as the more advanced ones like Cartoonification, etc. Please keep it up!

    Thanks!

What version of AE are you using? There’s a bug in 7 that when you click somewhere on the workspace, then move your cursor, it selects a bunch of layers.

Yes, very clever. I also like how you pick-whipped the text source to the reflection’s text source. Never woulda thought of that either. Nice job Andrew.
