I’m with you, but its really an attempt to use our i system to edit a project we logged and loaded on the HD system. Was just hoping to get the logs over (which I can do with PowerLog export), and move the media, which had been loaded offline on the HD system at 150 kb/frame. We just need to get another editor working on it and was hoping to save the redig. The logs come up just fine and the media is there, but no way to relink the media with the logged clips except manually… I was thinking maybe I was missing something. I know backwards compatibility is something no one ever promised…

    Floh,

Echofire. It is settable B/T 16/235 or 0-255. Not component out, however. One drawback.

    Floh,

Thanks for the input. We’ve been doing it this way for so long I will have to “retrain” myself not too! We work with AE on another system, but are monitoring everything on a NTSC monitor as we composite/animate. Thanks again for the time to review that material. Really appreciate & respect your input.

    Floh,

I have a a pdf I would love to get your opinion on regarding working with 601 levels in After Effects. It came with a book I have authored by Trish & Chris Meyers. Perhaps this is made obsolete bt the HD system. Could I e-mail it to you for your feedback? Its only a few pages long.

Didn’t know about needing to hold down caps lock when switching to 32bpc. What’s up with that? Does work, however. I was already in adaptive res.

“in “composition settings”: frame rate 30
in “make movie”: frame rate 29.97, i export as a QT movie”

Seems like you might want your comp settings to be 29.97 as well

We’re probably going to be stuck using a Panasonic DVC-30 camera for input. I guess we will just do live loads as we go. Its just one job for now from DV. We’re usually working in Beta SP. I just always assumed the M100 handled DV natively, but I assumed wrong! I’m guessing if they add DV to the SW product it will be working with native files.

    Floh,

Thanks. Just out of curiosity, what would be the difference between ingesting thru this DV input, going in composite to M100 with a DV deck and going into Final Cut as native DV? Would Final Cut yield better results?

    Kieran,

That’s my next move. Although, it seems damn strange that we can actually digitize with no problems. I’ll report out.
