The main body and soul body must be separate layers. You can then adjust the opacity of each separately.

When you say “render” I’m assuming you were referring to running the cached simulation. When I ran it, it took about 3 min. 30 seconds for the full 300 frames. As far as I could tell it was running on the GPU the whole time, indicating that it was using around 1.7GB of the available 6GB. If I run it with CPU selected it estimates over 20 minutes.

What do you see when it switches back to the CPU? Does the selection window switch to that, or what?

I am leaving to go to my granddaughter’s 1st birthday party, so I will check back later.

    Hi Maxim,

I know that Turbulence FD will switch back to the CPU when it runs out of GPU memory, but I wouldn’t think that would happen after only a few seconds unless you are trying to run a massive simulation.

If you want to post your project file I’ll try running it on my GTX 980 Ti 6GB and see what happens.

  • If your goal is to DEFORM the wire – as in have a bulge travel along it – then I think a bulge deformer is what you’re looking for. Otherwise, please elaborate further, or provide a sample image of your ultimate goal.

If you have installed the two files — Wiggle_It.jsxbin, and the (Wiggle_It_Resources) folder — and enabled “Allow Scripts to Write Files and Access Network” in Preferences > General (check the box), you should have the script available. Assuming those are all done and it still doesn’t appear, I would suggest contacting EJ at eyedesyn for assistance.

    Good luck.

July 11, 2017 at 2:03 pm in reply to: Invisible object produce a shadow

Yes, that is very strange. The shadow goes away with strength values just above 100% as well. I do notice that at 100% a render seems to hold for several seconds with the render buckets over that shadow area much longer than it does when just placing a regular object there to cast a shadow (indicating that it is doing more calculations), which does seem to suggest that there is something odd going on there.

Well, at least you found a workable solution.

The object being cloned (Schuppe.1) should be invisible automatically when placed in the cloner and should not cast a shadow. Are you sure that Schuppe.1 is causing the shadow and not another object (Untere Teil, for example)? Otherwise, looking at your screenshot alone nothing jumps out at me that could be causing an issue. Could you post your project file?

You might want to look into Synthetik Studio Artist. It does auto-rotoscoping for painterly effects of videos.

July 9, 2017 at 1:40 pm in reply to: Flipping cast Shadow from Light?

Assuming that the layers are properly oriented and distributed in 3D space (the grass layer is oriented as a ground plane and is not just another vertical solid behind the tree mimicking the ground), to cast a shadow in front of the tree the light needs to be behind the tree. To keep the tree illuminated, and not silhouetted, you could add another light in front with shadows set to off, or just an ambient light.

As I look at your project though, I can see that your layers are 3D but I suspect that the grass layer sits vertically and is just moved back in Z space. Unless you set up the grass layer as a ground plane (rotated 90 degrees on the X axis) with the tree in the middle of it, there is no way to “flip” the shadow with the light in front. With the grass layer set vertically the only way it can receive a shadow from the tree is to have it behind the tree, which doesn’t allow for control of the shadow in a realistic manner.

    Hope this helps.
