Steve, until the panes are open to reveal the values there’s nothing to drag on.

Click on one of the first two icons (Expand or Collapse the Layer Switches pane/Transfer Controls pane) in the lower left corner to expand the panes and reveal the Mask controls.

I’m sorry but I don’t understand your question. When I set my preferences to not use the system color picker I get this:

Are you referring to the eyedropper which you have the red arrow pointing to in your first image? Is it missing? If so, I would not know why. Also, from your first post it looks like you are on Windows, while I am on Mac, which may explain why your system Color Picker window in the second image (if that’s what it is) looks different than mine.

Uncheck “Use System Color Picker” in AE Preferences > General.
-
Disable “Render Perfect” in the sphere’s Object properties.

If the ghost is simply going to stand up and walk away the easiest method would be to film two video sequences with a locked-off camera — one with the body remaining motionless, and the second with the body standing up and walking away. In any video editing program, or AE, place the second video over the first and decrease its opacity.
If you want to be able to apply other effects to the ghost body you will need to separate it from the background by either rotoscoping it or filming it in front of a green screen.

July 23, 2017 at 8:40 pm in reply to: Hair showing up in render even if display tag visibility set to zeroFrom the C4D Help file:
Hair Limitations
Hair has the following limitations:
Hair is a volumetric effect when the Standard Renderer is used, which means it offers flawed results when combined with other volumetric effects such as PyroCluster, volumetric Clouds in Advanced Render (Physical Sky), etc.
When used in conjunction with the Physical Renderer, you will not be able to take full advantage of the complete spectrum of Hair parameters (see Hair and the Physical Renderer).
Photon Caustics does not work with Hair.
Infinite light sources will be treated as point lights when casting shadows.
The Cinema 4D Display tag’s visibility does not work in conjunction with HAIR.
All of these limitations do not apply if you render the hair as polygons (render time and memory requirements will rise sharply). So, how is this done? Simply select a Hair type from the Type menu in the Hair object’s Generate tab. Before you do so, don’t forget to reduce the number of actual hairs.

I don’t know how to create a script, if that’s what you’re asking, but if you just want to remove all shape layers: Enter “shape” in the search window above the layers in the Timeline panel. Drag to select them all (don’t use “select all”)… delete. Clear the search window by clicking the X and the remaining layers will be displayed.

Doing a quick Google search I found several discussions suggesting that you need to update your graphics drivers. If that doesn’t work, Google the warning (enter the exact text and numbers) and you will find other solutions.
Good luck.

One method would be to use the Mesh Warp effect. Apply it to the hair layer and set keyframes for the distortion mesh by dragging the points of the mesh to different positions over time so as to impart motion to the hair.
You will need to first separate your photo into layers so as to be able to apply the effect to just the hair layer and not distort the background.
