I think you would struggle to buy *just* the Flame software aswell..I believe you need to buy it as a turnkey system, which is big bucks…Same with Smoke – Flame’s editing/finishing brother. The software for that is like

Sorry if I wasn’t clear…by “18” I meant 18 pixels high when you zoom in and count the pixels..NOT 18 points in type size.

UK legal TV line size is 17 lines, I am just trying to work out if TV lines relate directly to vertical pixels in a D1 PAL composition?

    Cheers.

I had no idea about this…I’ve heard people say the ‘quality’ of pictures that come out of Discreet systems is second to none, didn’t realise they meant anti-aliasing. sorry to shift topics a bit, but could this poor AA’ing be the cause of scrolling credits nightmares that always seem to pop in AE?

    Hi Adolfo,

I just had a look at that Labs link..the links from that to the video tutorials in AECS3 seem to go to videos for Acrobat instead – I can’t seem to find any AE videos in the Design Center site…Any ideas?

    Thanks.

I use a P4 3Ghz proc / 2GB RAM / 2x300GB RAID 0 / GeForce 5200 and editing uncompressed SD works absolutely fine. For DV work you don’t even need a RAID, a single 7,200rpm drive should be fine. It always helps to have you apps on your system drive and have a separate media drive if possible.

Like everybody has said though – if you’re dealing in uncompressed HD and/or have client attended sessions then you’ll need to up the power and get a faster RAID.

  • Does anyone know if it’s possible to pick whip the mask shape to apply to a solid’s position? So if you alter the mask shape the position updates?

  • Blackmagic design do a series of SD and HD Decklink cards, which are about half the price of a Kona for HD…Not sure if AJA’s solutions are more ‘reliable’ or not, but I’ve been using an SD Decklink Pro for a couple of years now for AE monitoring and capture/playout of uncompressed SD via Premiere and it works a treat. Mine only cost

Thanks for the info…so I can set the VTR (sony HDW-M2000P) to read a 59.94 tape and output it to SD 50i? Do you know how I’d do this?

Sorry – I have next to no machine knowledge, other than siple edits.

Excellent! Cheers for that. So does that plugin properly determine the blur based on the motion of the layer, just like normal mo-blur?
