Why don’t you try it? Cut out elements of one frame of it that best represents the shot – pull out the depth that matches the shot, then rotate. See how it looks!
-
You can rotate the video clip as if it were a 2D ‘card’ or flat plain, but if you wanted some realistic rotation you would need to roto and separate some of the different elements in the shot, then move them forward/backwards in Z-space, so that the parallax is correct. You would no doubt then need to paint in some of the background to fill the holes left around you foreground objects. Not a quick job, but quite achievable if it’s only a small camera rotation.
Your best bet is to have a play with MochaAE for tracking/roto of your footage and then look in the podcasts/tutorials here on the Cow for ways to create the depth. Andrew Kramer did something with an Egyptian still landscape, although it’s the same basic principle. Also, there is a stereoscopic workflow video from someone who extracted depth from Nosferatu on the Imagineer website that might be useful to you.
Be patient!

Seriously? That is a very broad question with a very broad set of answers!!
Which bit in particular do you mean?

We had this problem on Mac and it turned out to be a problem folder called ‘MediaCore’ in ‘application support>adobe>common’.
This is a shared folder that some of the Adobe apps source certain shared plugins from. On mac it just doesn’t seem to work, so we just pulled out any plugins that were in there and put them directly into After Effects plugin folder. Not ideal if you want to use plugs in Premiere, but it worked for us.
Maybe you could try this?

January 4, 2010 at 12:22 pm in reply to: Upcoming CS5 will be 64 bit, no port to 32 bit Plugins (Customer Service Comments)Yes, but when Apple switched to Intel they still kept Rosetta, so PPC apps could carry on being used on new hardware (albeit slowly and inefficiently) until all the software developers could finish fully Intel versions. THAT is thinking ahead and serving the customer well.
What is being talked about with Adobe (of course assuming this is all true!) is that there will be no ‘halfway house’. It will be “if you’re not 64-bit yet then tough”. This will mean all us customers will pay a premium to upgrade AE and then pay again to upgrade ALL our plugins (and gone knows when in the future after CS5 is released)
All that said, I am sure that all the plugin manufacturers will have already had this conversation with Adobe long ago, so imagine it’s already being worked out somehow!…..
…I hope!
Another thing to mention is the increasing support of OFX plugins (64 and 32bit) in many other vfx/compositing apps. Notably Nuke, Fusion and Toxik (now May Composite) Will Adobe be developing any OFX support for CS5?

I’m curious about where you heard that. It’s not true.”
Can’t remember off the top of my head, a few people were saying the same thing though. I only wish it WAS true…then maybe it would work properly! 🙁
I will submit a bug report then and see what happens.
Cheers for that Todd.Jim.

Well, that is a bit pants really then isn’t it!
I am starting to really crave AE7 Pro + Nucleo at the moment….I have noticed loads of memory/multiprocessing glitches since we upgraded to CS4, on ALL of our VFX macs.
A few off the top of my head (in addition to the aforementioned fairly major one): –
– RAM Previews take an age to start up when MP is switched on (this is compared to Nucleo firing up the same amount of cores alot quicker)
– Instigating a RAM preview with MP on often results in a crash. AE says it is saving project just before making the RAM preview, but that save point isn’t reflected in the file (where does that process save to?)
– In CS4, with MP switched on OR off often I will lose all my RAM cached frames (the green line) totally randomly. Sometimes if I have made a RAM Preview, if I then hit ‘0’ again to play it again the green line disappears and it has to start building from scratch again. Or I could be scrubbing within that green line and suddenly it just disappears!?
– When rendering with MP switched on and ‘skip frames’ on more than one machine (network rendering TGAs to a central destination folder) the machine that starts second, or is ‘behind’ will take almost as long to check and skip already rendered frames as it would take to just render them from scratch!! AE definitely says it is skipping them, but takes several minutes per frame to decide if it’s been done or not. Doing the same thing in Nucleo with several machines works a dream.
– In CS4, despite alot of tweaking of the MP prefs, no matter how many processors/RAM I leave for other apps, AE totally takes over the mac and hogs all available power by the looks of it. Even surfing Safari is painful. Again, with Nucleo it uses as much as it can but still leave the mac useable for light work at the same time.
– In CS4 (w/MP on) the activity monitor almost NEVER says it is using the CPUs to full capacity. In Nucleo it regularly states 100% CPU activity across the board.
I’m slighty confused by all this, as I was under the impression that CS4 merely used the code from Nucleo under the hood anyway?
Sorry for the rant, but apart from a few nice new tools CS4 has been a living nightmare for us! And of course, any work you’ve done in it cannot be back tracked to CS3 or AE7!
Fantastic.
Please let me know if there is somewhere else I should be listing these bugs. Cheers.
