Cannot export anything…period
Posted by Eric Nicastro on November 3, 2009 at 6:00 pmI’m using Premiere Pro CS4. When I try to export my video clips to a file, I get nothing. The Media Encoder opens up but when I go to the destination to where I exported my clips too, there’s nothing. I did a spotlight search thinking it sent them somewhere else, but once again, nothing. I’ve tried using different compression settings and once again, nothing. What do I do?
And please don’t tell me to bang my head against the wall, I already did that, ha.

November 3, 2009 at 11:40 pmI have to ask the obvious: did you press ‘start queue’ in the Media Encoder. Do you see a yellow bar progressing?

November 4, 2009 at 5:38 pmHere’s what’s happening. When I go to File – Export – Media, the box pops up where I can change my export settings and such. I title it and hit OK, a small progress box pops up that says Export Status for a few seconds, then Media Encoder opens automatically after that. There are no files in the Media Encoder so I hit Add… and navigate to where I saved my file and it’s not there. So I do a spotlight search and still, nothing. It’s nowhere on my computer. Nothing ever exported from Premiere. I’ve tried it with different settings and destinations, but nothing is working.

November 4, 2009 at 8:42 pmI actually just installed the latest update and now once the export process is complete and the Media Encoder tries to open, the Media Encoder crashes and will not open. Even if I try to open the ME by itself it crashes. And still, no exported file from Premiere anywhere on my system.

November 5, 2009 at 6:31 pmI do have the same problem: I did not use CS4 for a while but today, it was unpossible to export any clip to Encore. The window did not pop-up and the CS4 application crashed each time after the export to media command.
I did a software update with all involved parts: Vista, Premeire pro (4,1,0) and Encore (4.0.1.058) but the results are always the same. Its very frustrating.
One remark more: I do have from time to time an error message for Vista concerning the color setup.
Hope someone can help me.

November 5, 2009 at 8:43 pmYou might need to clear the preferences. When u launch ppro hold a shift button down until the first screen pops up. Do this shift hold to ame and encore on launching them. If this doesn’t work I’d have to say a reinstall of ppro encore and ame.

November 5, 2009 at 9:31 pmI guess that’s a Windows trick. I tried it on my Mac and I don’t think anything happened. And when I tried to export something again, it didn’t work. I’ll try to reinstall everything this weekend and see if that helps.

November 6, 2009 at 7:23 amJon,
Thanks for your answer.
I did the re-installation before posting the problem twice. Always the same behavior.
The hold of the shift button had no change.
I have an other computer, Lenovo notebook T61p with XP operating system and the ppro CS4 4.0 on it. It works without any export problem.
For me, it must be a (new) Vista problem.
Cheers, Dieter

November 7, 2009 at 1:13 amHave either of you gentlemen run a memory checker and also check the harddrive where you keep your apps for bad sectors.

January 4, 2010 at 3:51 pmWe had this problem on Mac and it turned out to be a problem folder called ‘MediaCore’ in ‘application support>adobe>common’.
This is a shared folder that some of the Adobe apps source certain shared plugins from. On mac it just doesn’t seem to work, so we just pulled out any plugins that were in there and put them directly into After Effects plugin folder. Not ideal if you want to use plugs in Premiere, but it worked for us.
Maybe you could try this?
