Ya, some of those overheads are pretty tight and especially if there is something in there already. I have a metal Fuji lense case from years back that I might have to place the portabrace bag in. Still debating about hand carrying the camera or packing real well. I wish the EX-3 viewfinder came off because that is a weak point for any jostling I think.

Hi Ron,
I have the CTC-1 which is very similar to your CO-PCB but about 4 inches wider. I felt it would be too big for carry on but maybe not then. It would sure save some luggage costs and peace of mind to have it on board.

Ron which model of portabrace bag are you using with your EX3? I have one but it measures two inches longer than the airline specs so a little concerned.

The build of the T2i is cheaper than the 7D, a little lighter and more plastic has been used. The video quality has been described as equal however. The 7D has a few more features for still photography.
I picked up a T2i to complement my EX-3 and am very pleased with it. I love working with the EX-3 and like the image for the most part but the depth of field look that you can achieve with the T2i is quite amazing. I went the T2i route to test the DSLR waters as I wasn’t sure if the extra effort of using these cameras would be worth it over a real video camera. It was a smaller investment to start than the 7D. Now that I’ve seen the image I’m slowly adding more accessories to improve the operation of it.
Just like with EX-3 footage, I use Shotput Pro to load my original card footage onto two separate drives to archive my master files. With the EX-3 I use XDcam Transfer to convert to mov files on the scratch disk to import into FCP. With the T2i I use Log & Transfer inside FCP to access the files, transcode to ProRes and save to the FCP scratch disk.
Matching the two cameras takes a bit of work as my profiles are a little different. I do that in Color after the fact and haven’t tried to match the profiles from inside the cameras. Audio on the T2i is harder but if you are recording to the EX-3 anyway you’ve got yourself good synced audio.

Mpeg streamclip will turn it into prores file for you.

Might have been a setting in compressor that killed the audio. Prores is the codec you want to work with. Try Mpeg streamclip to do your conversion.

I like the concept a lot. I have shoulder mount now but it has to be fitted on and off the rails to be used. How do the rails fit on the front? I use the Sony batteries on the camera so wouldn\’t want to invest in new batteries just for counterweight.
Does the extra height off of tripod change feel of pan/tilt control?

That looks very interesting. Hard to tell but if this was on shoulder where does the viewfinder come to? It looks tight to the operators face? Like the concept. Pricing?

Make a new 720×480 sequence and drag the Hd sequence into it. Say no when it asks if you want to retain settings. Export the new SD sequence as self contained and send to program to make flv.
