Quartz Composer is a cool process tree-based app that is a lot of fun to play with. It is derived from an old app called PIXELSHOX STUDIO whose author was hired by Apple and is the developer of QC.

You can import a motion project file as you would a QuickTime file, but it can degrade FCP’s RT performance. As always, it depends on what you are doing.

Look into an ATI x800 card for a reconditioned dual-G5. Can be found for a little more than US$360 and will make a huge difference in Motion’s performance.
2 GB RAM or more is also a good idea.

The trick is to make sure that the loop ends on the frame before you return to the original values.
E.G.: if you set a keyframe with a value of 1 at 0:00 and again at 0:09 and a keyframe in the middle with the value of 5, the frame values will interpolate to
1 2 3 4 5 4 3 2 1
so when it loops it goes
1 2 3 4 5 4 3 2 1 1 2 3 4 5 4 3 2 1 1
and so on. The trick is to end the loop at 0:08 so that the next frame in the interpolation sequence will be the value at the start of the loop:
1 2 3 4 5 4 3 2
will loop as
1 2 3 4 5 4 3 2 1 2 3 4 5 4 3 2 1 etc.Jim Kanter,

1. What do you mean by the “motion media?” Did you expoort anything from Motion or was the project embedded in the FCP sequence?
2. Have you tried making a duplicate of the sequence, applying the cc filters, saving, and seeing how it opens in Motion?
Generally speaking it is never a good idea to upgrade systems in the middle of a project.

Sounds like a caching issue. Have you tried exporting the problem clips and seeing if they are rendered?

You might consider Painter (which has had animation capabilities for years) or even painting the individual cells as layers in Photoshop and then animating in AE.

I would try turning each layer into a separate composition (by precomposing) and rendering them in a batch.
