What frame rate was the footage shot at and what is the deck set to. We had a client who shot at 29.97 and the rental deck was set to 23.98 and it caused all sorts of problems. It involved using a paper clip to get into the right menu on the deck.

There is a switch on the VCR as well as the button on the bottom of the cassette.

Apple wishes there were 800,000 FCP 6 users instead of overall FCP users. That’s what I get for trying to think at 4 in the morning.

What I think he’s getting at is there are a lot of posts in general about FCP 6 issues, but with 800,000 plus users most seem to be problems with projects that had something that didn’t like the update done in the middle of it. Which kind of supports the idea of finishing what you can before you make the change over.

  • Same exact problem on the G5 as you describe OS 10.4.8 and FCP 5.1.2. I did a clean OS install on a new drive and copied everything else over as part of the install dialog. As part of the trouble shooting we updated both to 10.4.9 and 5.1.4. It went back to a more normal crash pattern afterwards, which is why to me it looks like something in the OS is at fault. I’m getting new MAC Pros along with FCS 2 in a couple of weeks and I might have time to check this out but more realistically I’ll just wipe the old drive and move on as I’ll need to use the drive as a dual boot for media100 on one of the new systems.

  • We had a similar problem on a G5 2gb single duo core. I just bought a new drive and reloaded everything because we didn’t have time to figure it out. I’m guessing it’s something in the OS. I still have the other drive and am going to try and figure it out after switching this machine for a new 8 core intel in a couple of weeks.

I’m suprised no one has answered this yet. Nothing progressive until version 12 at least.

Could finder or some other program have the folder open in which your project resides? If so close it.
