I was going to wait until Monday but I guess I could try to go Sunday morning so as to make this.

We use the Apple HBAs they are made by LSI even on our 844 and they work just fine. As for software we use Imagesan from Rorke Data although we had to wait quite awhile for Tiger support but it’s file level which we find better than volume level file sharing. For hardware we use Rorke Datas Galexy San SATA to Fibre channel towers and the Qlogic Sanbox 5200 fabric switch. SANs are not cheap but larger SATA drives make it possible to replace the smaler drives in the towers to increase storage at a far less cost then using Fibre channel drives but you should still think about having a tower per user as a rule of thumb for better bandwith if you are thinking about HD.

FCP 5.0.4 and OSX 10.4.4 are needed to have FCP open the HD MXF files you can still work in SD one version back on FCP and OSX

OK so I could do it on the M100HD with QT7. The shows in question are on the 844 and a version digitized from the master DVCPro 50 is on the ifinish that I use to encode my DVD files. Just move the files from the ifinish over the gig e to the MAC. I was waiting to do QT7 on the MAC until Rorke Image SAN could use tiger.

It’s not due to PCI express slots.

Looks like you have a set of ifinish (PC) or media100i(Mac) P6000,E6000 boards including a m6000 mpeg encoder board (PC only).

He kind of glossed over P2 in the interview. I’m very intrested in their plans for P2 MXF support as in when. My VP asked what system do we add next and I said SW but we are moving to P2 and need to be able to open the files. I mean we have 3 HDs and 844 and a couple of ifinish one of which is still in use but we bought and are waiting for 2 of the P2HD cameras and are looking for a replacement for one of our older DVCPro50 cameras and the 800 is looking good, we need to support the media. I’m afraid we may have to buy a copy of FCP just to open the files. Floh say’s to use the SDI out of the camera or the deck, the camera needs to stay in the field and we don’t want to buy a deck we just want to import files. Soon enough we will be delivering programing to PBS this way as well, if someone can figure out a better way to closed caption in an HD NLE.
