    Thanks!
    Great help
I’ve found using the extract to create a luma track matte gets me much closer. Perhaps in combination with the rotobrush and -or simply a garbage matte to clean up a few of the tougher shots and I’m good to go.

Todd, i have a similar question but in regards to Syntheyes.
I need to track a dancers hands in shots that are both moving and locked down. I then need to import this 3d data into After Effects for use by TrapCode.
Is there any way the new built in 3D tracker will accomplish this, or would a package like Syntheyes be necessary?
Thanks in advance for any feedback!

  • Hi Peter
The latest OSX and version of Resolve lite. In any event I rebooted and was able to avoid this particular error message.
My only hurdle now is properly add dissolves back in since my source file is a flattened Quicktime using scene detection. Going to go thru the manual since I imagine I must be able to use an XML (or EDL) export from PPro to re-apply all my cuts and cross dissolves in Resolve. Or I can simply manually reapply them

  • Yes to the above. Using scene detection. Instead of deleting my dissolves BEFORE exporting to flattened QuickTime, should I instead leave them in, and manually cut down the middle?
I would then need to recreate them in Resolve.
This has been suggested elsewhere but I thought it made more sense to delete the dissolves first.

Thanks Juan. Great to see you active in this forum. Definitely a great resource for the community.

  • Thanks Walter.

Do you do your final render out of Resolve or do you bring it back into Premiere?
How do you handle dissolves? I assume scene detection won’t work with these. Do these need to be added AFTER all CC work in Resolve?

Are you ever concerned with quality lost with the extra generation, or is this a non issue with HQ ProRes?

Thanks! As a first step will try keying. If that doesn’t do the trick will give rotoscoping a try!

  • Thanks! I understand however that any footage metadata when applied in FCPX is project specific, but when applied in Davinci resolve is saved with the actual file!

    Thanks Oliver!
    One further question
If I wanted to do my color grading on a different workstation than the one I edit on (say a PC laptop), what would you suggest?
Ingest first in Resolve on the PC(letting Resolve create proxy media) and then exporting XML to FCPX to edit with proxy media?
