    Thanks
So I can safely use Motion 5 (knowing I made the best choice) for
    1-Titling & Lower thirds
    2-Transitions
    3-Keying(which has received an upgrade)

What about some of the other built in effects like particles? I have a particular effect I know I can do using the Trapcode Particular plugin. How does the built in particle effect in Motion compare?

  • Turner,
I may be incorrect but I’m thinking that you can alter keyframes in Motion.
The new rigging and publishing feature of FCPX-Motion means a FCPX-Motion workflow is MUCH more tightly integrated than in a PPro-AE workflow

‘…right inside of Final Cut Pro X, the editor can make changes to the Motion project without ever launching Motion!’

June 26, 2011 at 4:56 pm in reply to: how is motion 5 stacking up to AE Basics

Great point. Like many others I’m busy investing all my time learning After Effects because

1 the way it seemlessly works in a CS5 workflow
2 the huge online community behind it

But if the Motion community grows exponentially, this entire scenario may change.

I’d love to get a detailed, up to date, and objective analysis-comparison between Motion 5 and the latest AE.
I’m sure there are many advantages in using Motion 5 that novices like myself aren’t aware of…

  • Ok, not 100% sure but I think to get more fine tuned control of time remapping you would be able to do it my round tripping into Motion and back…..similar to the Premiere to After effects round tripping.

    Thanks Tony.
I do have the latest and greatest iMac, so will probably do my own test to see if I notice any performance issues without optimizing media.
Of course, this means I still must purchase FCPX…at the moment not sure if it will be useful for anything other than a prototyping tool. Everyone has their own list of what’s missing, but for me its RGB curve-LUT support when color correcting and Bezier key framing control when time remapping.

‘They should at the very least announce a time-line for feature development, assuming they want FCPX to really be a pro tool. With the current @#it-storm I think it forces their hand to be a bit more forthcoming.’

  • ok
just shot some footage on a 7d at 800ISO. Although not objectionable, the noise is definitely visible and a bit distracting in areas of flat color.

    Thanks
Yes did a quick test and did seem to help smooth out hiccups. I thought Warp Stabilzer should only smooth out spatial, and not temporal (changes in velocity). But perhaps I was wrong.

Yes premiere cs4 works well…unfortunately my 30 day demo has expired.

I know 100% for sure I want AE, so will probably get Ae CS4 and see if I can make the AE-iMovie combo work somehow.
If not, will need to purchase Premiere CS4…
