Duh! thx, I think you have said this before:) Would be more intuitive if you could add stuff from the Motion internal file browser (which should add to project automagically) but I am sure there is a good reason for this “feature.” thx!!!

Oh yea! For me, prores 422 is the only way to go on a slow imac…even renders fast there:)

Btw, my workflow for fast renders and no FCP glitches is to create a motion project that matches the sequence settings in FCP where it will live. Then import that motion into an FCP bin, place on the timeline, and voila, no serious rendering at all. If you update the motion project, the bit of timeline in FCP is just re-rendered and all is well. This is why I prefer over AE, albeit I have to give up some things.

Strange, I don’t have any of those problems…what versions of software r u using and on what platform? I am editing on an older imac, and sorta have to use Motion instead of AE, cause I find Motion to render faster there and work flawlessly (pretty much) with FCP…so surprised to see your list of don’t likes:)

Ken, open the file in QT7 (not the SL one, the good one) and click Window/Show Movie Inspector. Under Format, there is a clue. Let us know that. Also, if you have access to a PC or a virtual windows space, there is a program called Gspot Codec Appliance that will be more precise. Download here: https://www.headbands.com/gspot/
