Get the latest Compressor in FCS3, the ProRes presets are under the Apple Quicktime settings. 422 and 444, very nice and it works:)

We use it when we get into tight spots like that, or we r just plain lazy. It works well with line drawings, but u can just download a trial and see if it works on yours. If it does, charge the client for that too:)

yes we did too, changed in the middle of some ongoing projects cause we are just nuts like that…FCS3 is rock solid. I just expected 64-bit this time around…oh well, maybe next time:) good luck!

The front I can live with except for where one of the flares is twisted and is messing up my design. But it would be nice to get this right in case I want to animate the back face – ha!

Interesting response. Does anyone actually use FCP to do any real audio work? We have always used Protools for all audio, updating those tracks later in FCP from mastered Protools output. I am not an audio engineer, but that approach does seem to produce better quality audio for all video productions – what does everyone else do?

Ha! My thoughts exactly – after 5 days of trying to fix it. But he’s my brother in law. Actually I made more progress updating all the mac side plugs in to match his old digirack setup. There are one or two that are either not available or just two expensive to buy again… so I had to tell him to put up or shut up.
Still, from a systems perspective, Avid really needs to work harder to provide better drivers for M-Powered. There are literally thousands of users out there that have this same problem: the driver not supporting the breadth of firewire chip sets out there. Irritating.

PROBLEM SOLVED – well the solution was to just convert to a CS5 project, re-render, and export using the same project settings to get a .mov file for use in DVD Studio Pro. Looks great! Must just have been the CS4 media encoder. Sorry for your troubles:)

Mike, thx – but not helpful:) we are a professional A/V studio and often get strangely shot footage, even from cell phones, but try and make do. Personally, we would not use such a cam, but the NGO did a good job with what they had in the field. Now I want to somehow get out a DVD from the project that looks at least as good as it does in the PPro preview window.
There must be some way of fixing this without having to retake the footage!
