Basically, the settings had been fixed in place via keyframe and for some reason this seemed to ‘lock’ trackmotion. So I deleted all the settings and went back to basics and it began working again.

I managed to figure this out myself, so no need to reply.

OK thanks for the advice.
I used my Magic DVD Ripper to rip one of the DVDs (it took up a lot of space though so I may try Danny’s suggestion.)It ripped in VOB. The quality looks quite close to perfect, but there are a few bits of film that look slightly fuzzy. The ripper gives me the option to convert to AVI and change the resolution to make it even better (I set the resolution to the recommended 640×360.) However there are no recommendations for the audio/video bitrate – it says the higher the bitrate the better quality the video. But I’m not sure how high to place them – any ideas? The film itself is 2hrs 27 mins long.

OK. Great. Thanks. So what ripping programme should I use to rip in DV-AVI? Normal AVI isn’t the same as DV-AVI?

That tutorial was good. It sounds like this could be useful. The only problem I’m having is making the lines entirely straight. I know you said it can be manipulated under position, but I don’t seem to be able to get the lines straight. Are there any specific settings I can use to get them straight?
Many thanks

September 10, 2009 at 6:50 pm in reply to: Question about video borders and event pan/cropWell I seem to be able to pan inwards without problems. And on certain pictures I can do the same outwards. But in some it looks odd, as I explained. You said it is a result of the resolution of the material I’m using. So basically do I just need to change the resolution of the pictures? And if so, do I need to make the resolution higher or lower in order to stop this problem?
As far as panning/cropping goes it seems to be able to do it inwards now. However, if I try and do a sideways pan or something I get the black borders or an entirely black window. You said I need to use material that is larger than the frame, so does this just mean bigger pictures?

September 10, 2009 at 1:01 pm in reply to: Question about video borders and event pan/cropOk. So do I need to make the resolution bigger or smaller in order to stop this problem? And can I do that in something like photoshop or even on vegas itself?

September 9, 2009 at 7:26 pm in reply to: Question about video borders and event pan/cropDo you mean the width/height positions under pan/crop? And if so by what do I need to manipulate the width/height by in order to make the material bigger than the frame? I did notice that when I pan in if I click ‘No’ under ‘maintain aspect ratio’ then I don’t have that problem of borders when panning in. However, I’ve come across a few problems when panning out.
#1 I assume that when you pan out your start point has to already be a picture/video that is somewhat zoomed in, in order for you to pan out to the full photo?
#2 Assuming the above method is correct, I’ve found a few problems with it. I key frame my video so it starts zoomed in, and then key frame it so that it’ll zoom out slowly. However, it looks very strange when it zooms out, almost like it expanding, rather than zooming out and the overall look it quite unprofessional. Any ideas why this would be and how to fix it?
