sounds like you might have in and out points on your timeline that are larger that any of your clips. what happens if you try fit-to-fill?

click on your pic and it should show up in “preview”. click “tools” then “show inspector”. your pic attributes will be visible. “image size” should be no bigger than 4,000 x 4,000 pixels. “image DPI” should be 72 unless you doing a zoom and pan on the pic. i use 100 and it works well. “color model” should be RGB. i use Photoshop to adjust these parameters. also…in your timeline..under “sequence” click “video processing” and you should set it to “always render in RGB” if it is on “render 10 bit material” it will take hours and you will probably get an “out of memory” flag. good luck.

at the far lower left of your timeline there is an icon of 2 little horizontal bars…click on that and the boxes should go away.

i would politely ask the client to provide you with a graphic with an alpha channel.

very cool animation. but the cursor animation was missing…unless i missed it somehow.

shoot your audience on green screen. key them over your favorite movie. then apply color correction to the audience shot and bring down your whites/mids/blacks down to zero…there you go.

another thing you can do to speed things up is to delete your render files (making your timeline unrendered) and then go to Sequence/Settings/Render Control and make your Resolution 25%.
Edit and Render as you please at this lower rez. Then when you are done just delete any render files and re-set your resolution back to 100% and render the final product. -

i usually set it to RGB or 8 bit YUV. -
I work in broadcast tv in Dallas. Been editing for 35 years. If you are going to be in the news dept. you will be handed the scripts and the footage and be expected to edit the stories for the newscast for that days newscast. If you are going to be editing commercials (like i do) you will be handed the scripts and footage and be expected to cut the spots that day if not sooner. If you are lucky you will cut on your own…otherwise you will have a client sitting next to you.
I have fun all day cutting spots and making the clients happy and making money for the tv station. You will have a good time…just be open for changes and re-edits all the time.
