  • Suddenly can’t do Insert, Overwrite or Replace edits

Posted by Scott Herriott on January 17, 2012 at 9:12 pm

I’m running FCP 7.0.3 on an IMac running OS 10.6.8.

About a half hour ago, my system crashed. Brought it back up and now any attempt at an Insert, Overwrite or Replace edit is met with an “Insufficient Content for Edit” message. I tested this with several clips where there IS sufficient content and, yet, the error message. I trashed my prefs to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,
    Scott

sounds like you might have in and out points on your timeline that are larger that any of your clips. what happens if you try fit-to-fill?

Hey Dave Laronde, it seems to me interesting what you said about bad preferences. It seems the guy who posted this solved his problem. Unfortunately, I couldn’t.

I have the same problem: I have a clip and can’t overwrite or insert, even when I have some space.

I tried it in a different new project. Same clip. Final Cut says: “for best perfomance your sequence and external video should be set to the format of the clips you are editing. Chance sequence settings to match the clip settings?

You think could have something to do with my problem?

I’m kind of new with FCP…

    thanks!
