at the top of the viewer there are 3 little icons. pick the one on the right and select RGB.

it sort of looks like “lower field” footage that was dropped into an “upper field” timeline.

  • try converting your mp3 to aif or wave. that might be the issue

i just converted 238gb/127 files using Shanes method. it worked great. i think there is a Droplet out there in the Cow archives that you can use.

when in boris title crawl “controls” you have to select animation style at the top of the menu. then at the bottom of the menu you select or unselect “use percent completion” …selected will crawl for the duration of the title clip you have laid on the timeline….unselect will allow you to keyframe the crawl.

of course at first you need to type out your crawl/roll text and drop that on the timeline.

or better yet….use Boris Text Crawl…which comes with FCP7. you’ll get good results.

do your text crawl with no drop shadow. add effects/video filters/glow/outer glow.
make the two color pots white.
play with radius and brightness to get the desired result.

if it’s vhs it’s probably lower field. change it on the clip and it will look better. view footage on an tube type monitor and it will look good.

was xd-cam used as the recording media.? are you recording in 4-2-0 ?
i have that problem with every green screen we do. it really shows up when the talent has fine hair and wearing a dark coat.
to get around it i bought DV Matte Pro. just drop your background into the well and you get a really good key and fine hair is preserved and there is none or very little “sizzle” around the edges. but you have to have a really good flat lit green screen.

you could use a 4 point garbage mask to get the right angle and then apply a slight edge softness.
