Yes, you can zoom in that much and do a lot with that. It can correct a multitude of sins — improve a shot, make one clip a two camera shoot, add “motion” to the camera.

No message, the programs just hangs and stops – at 45%, at 75%. I was using a standard template – HD 24p 1440×1080 1.333px 6.4 bitrate. I think it was a few stills dropped on tracks and/or some looks from a program I’m beta testing. So I rendered out the CineForm file. This time it hung at about 65% – very odd. I cut that one off, went in and rendered the end of the file without problem and then put those two CF files on the timeline. It then rendered the template file. Now I’m trying a WMV at 1920×1080 sq pixels, 7.4 bitrate. (I can show my movie HD this way on my JVC ProHD box.) I’ll report the problem to the beta people.

CineForm is a codec that wraps around m2t. Go to cineform.com and get a trial version and convert.

Be sure to change your Preview to “Best-Full” before capturing the frame. You will get what the preview window is set to.

I’ve used a couple of the converter programs. I’d suggest you try On2 Flix. They have a couple of programs but the best for the buck is the $39 one (as opposed to $250) and you have a lot of control. Try the VP6 templates, even 300 on the bitrate. I used it at

I bought a 750gb external drive at Fry’s 2 weeks ago for $149 – Seagate. It works fine. I have had about 6 different external drives, all USB, stored and edited a ton of HDV footage on these without problem. Most were standard IDE drives I installed in cases I bought on Pricewatch for less than $30.

I don’t think there is such a correction. If it was mine, I’d cut the footage into clips that needs correction, move those up on another track and use levels on that track to adjust. However, the best I would hope for is just to make the footage a little better.

I don’t know of any 16 x 9 cameras that are not HD. I have a couple – a Z1 and A1U. But even shooting HD you make a standard DVD at the widescreen template and you should be able to do that with plain DV. DVDA doesn’t do Blu-Ray yet.
