April 1, 2008 at 8:42 amVegas has had this capability back to least version 4 so Pro 8 can do it too.
Use either Pan/Crop or Track Motion to do the zooming in for you.
Be advised that, if you’re attempting to zoom in on an SD signal (720 x 480), the quality will start to fall apart fairly quickly. -

April 1, 2008 at 12:11 pmIf one shoot HDV, will that mean one can use 2,5X digital zoom using cropfunction in Pro 8, and get the same quality as if the camcorder is DV?

April 1, 2008 at 12:24 pmIf you’re putting an HDV clip onto an SD timeline, then yes, you can definitely zoom in on the image.
How much of a zoom in depends on how good the focus was on the original footage. -

April 1, 2008 at 12:41 pmYes, you can zoom in that much and do a lot with that. It can correct a multitude of sins — improve a shot, make one clip a two camera shoot, add “motion” to the camera.
