Drag them to a folder in your browser. Then drag them to any clip.

Don’t resize them in FCP.

Dub the tape to your deck you’re using through FireWire. See if that new dub doesn’t work OK.
You need to have that camera looked at again. What’s likely going on is it’s not tracking the tape correctly, so the audio and TC tracks are there but off a bit from where they should be physically on the tape I’ll bet.

September 4, 2011 at 2:02 pm in reply to: Final Cut Sequence Settings for Blu Ray Slide ShowDon’t think there is one… but 30p, 24p are Progressive… it’s what the “p” stands for. But if you’re mixing the HDV with it, be sure that the HDV is progressively shot… it likely isn’t. So if the images and the video are in the SAME sequence, it shouldn’t be progressive. If they are in different sequences, use interlaced video for the interlaced HDV you have, and progressive for the stills.

September 4, 2011 at 3:44 am in reply to: Final Cut Sequence Settings for Blu Ray Slide ShowI’d capture the HDV as ProRes… make it match the sequence setting. So likely it should be 1080i 29.97. Then it would be all the same format.

September 3, 2011 at 5:20 pm in reply to: Received my copy of CS5.5 in the mail today.LOL!!!! The $299 investment in FCP X still made that suite a deal… Go FCP X. You just saved Mark more than the cost of a new license for FCS 3… LOL.. this is too funny. Good for you Mark.
As far as I can see, the cost of Avid + FCS 3 + Adobe Suite + FCP X should still be within the means of most working all the time professionals, right? You can have all three for 3.5k or so??? LOL… what a moment in NLE history… You’ll not see this again any time soon… or, is this the new pricing model for all this software from these three great companies?

September 3, 2011 at 2:43 pm in reply to: Final Cut Sequence Settings for Blu Ray Slide ShowThe pixel aspect ratio isn’t right… should be square…
Just load the “sequence preset for ProRes HQ 1080… 30p might be just the ticket for a slide show too.
