  • Final Cut Sequence Settings for Blu Ray Slide Show

Posted by David Mayer on September 2, 2011 at 5:06 pm

I will be making a Blu Ray slide show with high resolution TIFF files and music. I have found a lot of info on the best Compressor settings for creating the Blu Ray file, but less on the Final Cut settings. What is my best bet for the sequence settings in the Final Cut timeline?
    Thanks,
    Dave

    1080 ProRes 422 or LT most likely… 29.97 if in the US… 25fps if in PAL land…

Check out Gee Three’s PhotoMotion. It saves a lot of time when creating slide shows.

    Jerry,
How does this look for the Sequence Settings?

    Frame Size 1920 x 1080
    Aspect Ratio HDTV 1080i (16:9)
    Pixel Aspect Ratio HD (1280 x 1080)
    Compressor Apple ProRes 422 (HQ)

iMac 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7, 8 GB
    OS 10.6.2
    Final Cut Pro 7.0

The pixel aspect ratio isn’t right… should be square…

Just load the “sequence preset for ProRes HQ 1080… 30p might be just the ticket for a slide show too.

Keep in mind using ProRes HQ will yield very large render files.

    Jerry,
There is no preset with that exact name.
    Would it be this one?

Preset is called: ProRes 422 (HQ) 1920×1080 30p 48 kHz

and results in the sequence menu showing an aspect ratio of: HDTV 1080i (16:9)

    Thanks again,
    Dave

I would change the sequence to Progressive (NONE).
You are working with stills. No interlacing involved.
