the reason i want this, is that i want to export a quicktime with the names in it for other people to use as a reference. there will only be one layer on at a time as it is more of an edit than a layered comp.

thanks steve, that second one is almost exactly what i need, now is there a way so that it will look at any layer below it? (not just the one directly below it. for example i bring in a fcp timeline through automatic duck, then i want to add a text layer above all of layers and have it display each clip as they come up? is there a way to make this work?

i agree with scott. i have used ball action to recreate displays before. i found it needed to have levels added to it to take away the shading used to make the balls look spherical.

hey thehardmenpath, i’ve been trying to use your script that you wrote (i’m pretty excited about it). but i keep getting this error “incorrect mask index specified”. i’m not quite sure what i am doing wrong here. i make a mask with the pen tool. select it by clicking “mask 1” in the timeline and then hit apply tracker. that’s when i get the error. please let me know what i am doing wrong as this script could be quite useful.

oh and i am using ae 6.5 pro on a dual 1.8 g5 mac if that helps.
