Copy that, amazing. I downloaded the one from the other day but haven’t had a chance to dig up a project to test it. I’ll grab this new one and let you know what I find later this week. Seriously, I’m so excited!

Yeah, I’ve done the individual clips route. What I am doing mostly are these multi-hour live switches, and I need to not duplicate all the footage if at all possible. Thanks for the tip. Keep me posted. I’ve posted on Adobe and hear crickets believe it or not.

Hi – I’ve basically just avoided this workflow for three years now, even though I seem to need it several times a year. Have not heard a peep from anyone, on other boards either. I’m baffled why isn’t anyone using this workflow and running into this problem? Cheers-

Thank you, I’ve not heard of Recut, I’m surprised it hasn’t appeared in my searches. I’ll try the demo today. Good point on coloring in Resolve, the reality is I need to recut the shows to some extent, so this process is part of me matching back the cuts to the original footage. I would prefer not to have Resolve as my main NLE due to all the other things that have to happen. Sometimes I just do another live cut in Premiere with multicam, which works great but is again time consuming. Trying to find the best workflow. But your logic is sound, I appreciate the comments.

Seriously, no one is having this problem? I know some people are because I’ve seen this come up elsewhere. I can’t import a working XML sequence from Resolve to Premiere. I need Resolve for scene detection for very long live switches with mismatched cameras.

I have had the same problem for years, and can barely find anyone round tripping to DaVinci. Really does no one need this? The fact that Premiere can’t read an XML correctly and hasn’t for years seems absurd. Clearly it sees the cuts, so my assumption is it just doesn’t like the format o the timecode coming out of DaVinci. Someone smart could surely make a script that would fix the timecode layout, the way all those subtitling utilities fixes Premiere’s own timecode for Encore.

That didn’t have any effect. Seems like maybe it should though, as the XML is indeed importing the full clip back in.

Ok thanks for checking. I’ve checked on two systems but both are mac on the same OS. One other thing I’ve added though, are the free versions of the Mettle plugs, which will be integrated later this year. I wonder if that’s doing it? Oh fun, the plug-in game. I’m also having an issue with the Export window not remembering my Source Range preference, so maybe this is all coming from the same place. Thanks again.

Howdy – I’m referring strictly to the timeline. When you option-drag a clip, it duplicates it. Always has, and that’s fine. The issue is (which I think is new in the latest release because I use this so much I would’ve noticed), when you change the name of the new clip, the name of the old clip changes as well.
Say you’ve got a graded adjustment layer named Day for Night and you need another section called Interiors. You want to option-drag your layer to make another one, and then you’d want to rename it so you can see quickly what layers are affecting what clips. You no longer can, because you can’t quickly duplicate and rename a clip. You have to start over with a new layer. It’s not a lot of steps to make new pieces, but I use this for everything and it’s a major hassle to not be able to rename clips. I use it for titles, supers, marking sections, etc. Make sense? Thanks for your help.
