I too am exploring PP and cannot find an invert option for the garbage matte. I know i can do it in AE, but that seems like a big, extra step for something so simple.

Hi Dave,

I’m running into a funny issue with a vendor. I’ve been sending spots to them for localization and adding pulldown (at their request) for broadcast. I’m working in 1080 23.98Psf and finishing at the same specs. The footage was shot and cut at 1080 23.98(just so theres no confusion). I’ve been using the “age old” method of pushing through AE and dropping the 23.98 spot into a new comp and exporting with the Upper Field First option using the first cadence option, WSSWW. This gives me what I believed to be a correct frame conversion with pulldown. Ready for broadcast. Apparently the vendor says there are “issues” with the files.

Another editor has done a different process. He simply dropped the 23.98 self contained QT Master into a 29.97 timeline in FCP and exported. This was what he delivered and we’ve never heard of any issues from the same vendor. Is his way the correct way? Seems he’s simply doing a frame convert without adding pulldown. His QT is clean with no fields where as mine does.

Which is the correct process?

What is wrong with Sorenson Squeeze?

Sorry for the mis-spelling. I meant Bad Blend Mode. This error so far has not caused any problems.
