Actually it’s the death of QuickTime and it’s 32 bit libraries.
The QuickTime libraries are dead. Long live … I don’t know … 64 bit yadda yadda

You mean you want the captions burned in to the video (with no way to turn them off)?
This option is available in FCPX 10.4.4 but not 10.4.3.

Correction, that will only show unused clips from the open Project.

Sort the event by unused.

Use X2Pro and send an embedded AAF to Logic of just those clips.

I would dig in to the Library and trash the alias files in the corresponding event folder that pertain to those media clips. Then reimport.
Backup your library before doing this, and try it one file at a time at first.

Most of them have some level of propriety.
Codecs are differentiators.
