Have you tried trashing your preferences first? If so, I would then trash your render files and see how that works for you.

Are you doing the editing in FCP? What are creating the 3d animation in? What resolution footage are they giving you?

If you have the 24p raw footage, I would work at 24p until you are finished with your project, then have the whole thing downcoverted (which will in turn have a pulldown added to it for broadcast and run at 29.97).

You can add interlacing in AE, but I need to figure out what step of this process you are actually doing first.

Duplicate the files to another folder and use those (so the orginals will remain intact)

Put a .mov extension on the files (or one of the files) and see what happens. IF they were digitzed with Aurora, I would imagine that you would need the codec.

You can try this in FCP with a color key, but you will need to change the colors of the different continents and do a color key on each of them. If they are all grey and you do a color key on Australia, all of the continents that are grey will key out as well. If you have the australia colored green and africa colored red, you can key each of those out separately and put different videos on each continent. I agree that using After Effects or Motion will probably be easier to achieve your desired effect.

You should only have to do this for clips that start at the beginning of a tape. DO you have 200 tapes?

The clip must be offline. Control-Click the clip, select make offline, and check the leave on disk option (so that it’ll still be there if you need it). Double click the media start point and modify it.

Sure, unless you have used those first few seconds of video somewhere in your timeline.

Take the clip offline, modify the media start point, and do a batch capture on that clip. The timecode will still be the same you are just lopping off the first 10 seconds or so.

Find that clip in the bin and modify the in point to allow enough room for a preroll.

You are correct. If you shot 24p Normal, you DO NOT need to remove pulldown. You will be capturing and editing at 29.97 NTSC. Use the DV easy set up and you’ll be good to go.

Your clips should go into the DV timeline (make sure to make a new sequence after you choose the dv easy set up) and should play without rendering.
