March 7, 2007 at 5:16 pm in reply to: IF CAPTURING VIDEO ON A MACPRO, USE THE BACK PORTHmmm.. I’m not sure – All I know is that it definitely solved the problem when I used the back port (both from a deck and camera firewire), and the support person I was dealing with at Apple spoke to his superiors, who confirmed there were problems with the front firewire ports of the first MacPros – They said they had the same problems with the G5d when they came out – Either way, it’s good you guys didn’t run into any problems, I just thought I’d share for those who were struggling with this issue 🙂

February 26, 2007 at 5:15 pm in reply to: BATCH DIGITIZE WON’T WORK FOR CERTAIN CLIPS…Thanks, Andreas – I tried your suggestions, no luck. I forgot to mention in my first post, that this was a project originally created in an earlier version of FCP. (And, as I mentioned, the same problem happened on two different computers – both with the same media / project files).
A friend suggested I do a “capture now” on the trouble clips, which I did, so I finally got them in. However, there’s over 100 hours of footage, with about 30 or so “trouble clips”, and as you can imagine, this is highly inconvenient.
Regardless, thanks for your suggestion, I appreciate it. Maybe we’ll see the day soon where we’re not all “Apple’s Guinea Pigs”.

Thanks, Curtis – And sorry for sending that last post twice (must be that damn Trojan Horse messing with my computer)… 🙂

That’s what I thought – That Macs can’t get them – until I got a call from some people I do a website for, who said that their anti-virus software detected a Trojan Horse virus on the site that I created for them (on a Mac). I had a few PC friends confirm this, and after a call to the hosting service, found out that a hacker broke into the site and attached it to the main page. I re-wrote the code, and re-loaded the imaes with different names (and changed all passwords), but in the process was wondering if I had gotten it on my Mac, being that I access the site all the time. Apparently, Macworld says that Macs can now get it:

My Mac has been running a little slow, but I think it’s from other things (multiple program usage). Anyhow, I was just wondering if anyone had ever encountered the virus, and what it showed up as on their HD (or how they found it)..
Thanks for your answer, though. I like to think that us Mac users are a clean, virus-free bunch….(!)
