update – nope… it did not really fix the problem. Called Adobe and they said to create a brand new project and import the old one into it. I did.. good so far.

Thanks for the (above) tip. I was running Premiere 8.1 / Yosemete on my Macbook Air (2 GHz Intel Core i7 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3), and having the same problems. The above fix seems to have made it a bit more stable (for now). Will update if I still have the same problems, but for now, thanks!

  • Hi John and Shane, yes it was already transcoded at 27.97.

Thanks for the link John, I’ll check it out. We already set up a station to re-transcode everything within the new 23.98 project (and, possibly, create new sequences, copy the old clips / edit decisions into the new sequences, and manually lay the new 23.98 footage over each shot in the new sequences, if necessary – that is, if the new 23.98 transcode files don’t re-link, which I don’t believe they will. Tedious, but from what Avid tech is saying (or not saying – I’m not really sure the person I spoke with truly knew the answer), this seems like the only route that will ensure true 23.98 with no problems.

I should also mention that we still have more editing to do in this project (it is only 1/4 complete at this point, and we will continue editing with the new 23.98 footage for several weeks). So, I’m interested in doing all this now, rather than the end (after 6 more weeks of editing), when it gets kicked back by the network.

Thanks both again for your help..

  • Ah thank you all! Sounds like it’s best to use the (newly discovered)
Premiere screen mode.. will give it a shot tomorrow. Thanks again!

  • Thanks Michael & August – Makes complete sense!

    Thanks again,
    Jennifer

  • Beautiful! Promoting to 3D / modifying defocus did the job. Thanks, Glenn!

Hi David & Michael, thanks for the info. We are using v.2, but will try to upgrade and try again, though. Maybe this will make a difference. I didn’t realize there was a more recent version.

    Thanks again!

Hi Michael & Daniel, thanks for the responses.

Daniel, we did just that with ‘not-so-great’ results.

Michael – we’ll try it manually, as per your suggestions.

I guess we just expected PluralEyes to be more of a ‘magic bullet’ :0

    Thanks again,
    Jennifer

Hi Shane, yes, we converted to DNxHD. Thanks for the response, though. This is really baffling us, being that so many people are using the 7D/5D and recording separate audio these days. Is everyone manually syncing everything? Say it ain’t so!

    Thanks again,
    Jennifer
