Hi Chris,
While saving the entire project is of course an option, it is not the best option for every case. For instance, there may be hours of unused footage in the project, making it much larger than it needs to be. I know, you can “trim” the project, but still, more extra work and such.
Then if you archive the project to another drive and later try to open it, you have to relink assets because the drive letter changed. Maybe you had plug-in effects installed and used two years ago, which are no longer installed…and so forth. Nice to have a FINISHED copy. Period.
Personally, after I deliver a project and know there will be no re-edits, I make a single .avi “Master File” on another drive, then completely delete all the original mess.

Hi Dave,
In most cases, you will want to export as 720×480, using crop settings in AME to remove the 6 unwanted lines. Next issue – sounds like you are maybe delivering to a cable TV station? Are they set up to accept/broadcast Widescreen SD? You might need to provide them with a 4:3 letterboxed version, would definitely check with them if there is any doubt on delivery specs.

Hi Puneet,
Uncompressed video is the “best”, but due to huge file sizes, not always practical. If you’re on the Mac, then ProRes is a good choice of a “visually lossless” codec with 4:2:2 color. On the PC, you might look at the AVID codec, or Lagarith (both free).

The last official driver release for RT.X2 is for CS5, and there is no more support going forward, sorry. The MXO2 line is currently supported and will be supported for CS6 as well.
Note that with CS5 drivers, you will LOSE all of the Matrox GPU effects (3D, Page Peels, Soft Focus, Ripple, etc.) since Adobe has taken over using the GPU natively for the Mercury Playback Engine. Basically, RT.X2 becomes similar in function to an MXO2 Mini. You will only have Matrox CPU effects for Color Correction, Keying and Wipes.

Hi Matt,
Premiere can only utilize a SINGLE Nvidia card for Mercury Playback.
As for processors, what are you editing? Premiere is very snappy with a single Core i7, but if doing a lot of complex After Effects stuff then a dual-processor machine may be beneficial.

Hi Tom,
Is this for web, or DVD? Pure white of 255,255,255 can be a bit much for video, you may want to tone it down to 235,235,235 if that’s the case.

If you can’t re-author the disc, or the audio trick doesn’t help, a very simple option is to use a free software called “DVD Shrink”. It will re-process the DVD contents to exactly fit a standard DVD, and quality seems to hold up well.

Hi Roger,
When you say “Capturing as DVCPROHD”, are you using a capture card? Otherwise you’d simply be bringing the native footage in direct from camera’s memory card, which is the best method. DVCPROHD would be 1440×1080 anamorphic, losing quality from the original 1920×1080 source.
Skip the step of exporting your project to H.264, the DVD should be made direct from Premiere, avoiding additional transcode steps/intermediate files.
You can either use Dynamic Link and export your Premiere sequence direct to Encore, or use Adobe Media Encoder to create the “MPEG-2 for DVD” assets direct from Premiere, for use in Encore. In AME, check the box at the bottom for “Maximum Render Quality”, this improves the downscale quality.
